“Justin is knowledgeable, caring and truly passionate about crossfit training. I am a competitive fencer as well as a full-time student, so I require a trainer able to improve my anaerobic fitness, speed and strength, as well as being able to deal with changing time commitments. I have definitely been able to gain all these things from Justin, as well as general fitness, strength and body shape. The style of training is different to conventional gym – we don’t do any isolated weight-work, such as bicep curls or press-ups. Instead, we train whole-body movements that work several muscular regions at once as well as coordination and anaerobic fitness. Furthermore, the relatively short duration of the workouts (30 minutes) means that we are able to work at a high intensity the entire time, something I rarely achieve in an hour-long session. To assist with motivation and tracking of progress, we also work to goals – e.g. ‘how quickly can you perform 50 …’, or ’12 minutes: perform as many rounds as you can of …’. I have seen people of every requirement training at Justin’s gym, with goals ranging from weight loss to football training. “I’ve been going to JT’s Fitness for about 11 months and have been cross-fit training for the last 5 months. As someone who found it difficult and boring going to a gym my previous best effort was about 3 months and so I’ve been a serial avoider of regular exercise for most of the last 30+ years. At Justin’s all of my expectations have been met or exceeded. I get to go at a regular time, I don’t waste my gym time waiting for equipment, I get an extremely knowledgeable personal trainer (Justin) who scales the workout to my increasing abilities and I get gym sessions that are varied and interesting every session. Whilst I’m not an athlete the cross-fit method is a great holistic approach that doesn’t emphasis one area over another and all of the movements are demonstrated and explained.
